Day 1 MALAGA – GRANADA
Arrival in Malaga in the afternoon, transfer and check-in at the hotel in Granada, and time for a first look at the city. Buffet dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2 GRANADA
After breakfast, departure for the hill of Alhambra, the “red castle” as it is called in Arabic. Built on a rocky hill, protected by mountains and surrounded by forest, the Alhambra was originally designed as a military complex, but from the mid-13th century it became the residence of kings and sultans. A masterpiece of 14th-century Islamic architecture with unimaginable detail in its decoration, it has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. On the adjacent hill are the magnificent Generalife gardens, dominated by the summer palace of the kings and sultans. We will then have free time in the historic city center after walking through it, passing by the Cathedral and the Royal Chapel, the small “Souk,” the Plaza Nueva, and the small Darro River. For those who wish (OPTIONAL), after dinner at the hotel, there will be an evening stroll on the Albaicín hill, the old Moorish Granada, where we will have a panoramic view of the illuminated Alhambra as well as the entire city. Then we will go to the other hill of the city, Sacromonte, the gypsy quarter, to watch gypsy flamenco in the cave houses, with a drink. Buffet dinner, overnight stay.
Day 3 GRANADA – CORDOBA – SEVILLE
After breakfast, departure for Cordoba, the distant and lonely city of Lorca, the former capital of the important Caliphate of the West. Upon arrival, we will visit the Mosque-Cathedral (Mezquita-Catedral), an architectural masterpiece of unparalleled beauty, a blend of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, and the second most important mosque of its time after that of Mecca. We will then wander through the picturesque narrow streets of the old Jewish (Judería) and Muslim quarters, with their wonderful courtyards (patios), and you will have free time before departing for Seville. Arrival and check-in at the hotel. Buffet dinner, overnight stay.
Day 4 SEVILLE
Our morning tour will begin with a panoramic bus ride, and we will disembark at the beautiful Plaza de América, which features the three most important architectural styles found in Seville. Passing through Maria Luisa Park, we will arrive at the most beautiful square in Spain, the Plaza de España. Then we will walk through the alleys of Santa Cruz (the old Jewish quarter) and see the Royal Palace (Real Alcázar) - which we will visit - the Archive of the Indies (Archivo de Indias) and the Cathedral of Seville (Catedral de Sevilla). We will end the tour on the riverbank to admire the view of the famous Guadalquivir River. The afternoon is free for you to enjoy a riverboat ride or sample some Andalusian cuisine in the form of tapas. In the evening, after dinner at the hotel, we recommend watching a Sevillian flamenco show in the region where it originated, and letting yourself be carried away by the intense and passionate rhythms performed by the most skilled artists. Buffet dinner, overnight stay.
Day 5 SEVILLE – MALAGA
After breakfast, we will depart for Malaga. Upon arrival, we will take a walk through the historic city center, the famous Larios shopping street, the Plaza de la Constitución, the narrow streets, the Cathedral “La Manquita,” and the Roman theater. In your free time, you can visit the Picasso Museum, the Centre Pompidou in the amazing Muelle 1 Port, or Malagueta Beach. In the afternoon, departure for Malaga Airport and return flight.
